Change an LPG Cylinder
Forklifts are powered by various sources. They can run using liquid propane or LP gas, gasoline, diesel or battery. LP is a clean burning fuel preferred for many uses. There are several facilities that have large liquid propane supplies on site. This allows forklifts to be refueled anytime they require. In other places, the facility will have spare LP cylinders which could be changed out when the machine should be refueled.
In order to avoid possible serious injury, specific safety measures should be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. For instance: be certain to wear the correct safety equipment such as safety glasses or goggles and heavy gloves. Make sure that you turned off the forklift ignition prior to changing out the tank. Then, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is securely closed. Use your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Don't forget that it would turn in the opposite direction of a standard connection and never use any kind of wrench or a metal tool on these connections. They are meant to be tightened by hand only.
